Amelia Jane Nierenberg is a Junior at the Ethical Culture Fieldston School in New York where she is editor of Fieldston’s art magazine, Dope Ink. She has participated in Les Tapies (affiliated with TASIS), the Art Studio Workshop Intensive Summer European Trip, and the Early College Program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She received five Regional Honorable Mentions, three Regional Silver Keys and three Regional Gold Keys from the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. Her work has been shown in the Fieldston Summer Show, the NYC Scholastic Regional Awards and #artbecause. It is either forthcoming or available in Slash of Red, Torrid Literature, Ruminate Magazine, American Athenaeum and the Black Fox Literary Magazine. She spends much of her free time painting and is an art major at her school.

"Goddess" is an exploration of female strength. I hoped the drawing would portray my mother's quiet strength - the ability to shoulder any obstacle, work a full time job and still find time to send out holiday cards. It is a piece about perseverance and endurance. "Storm" is part of a larger reflection on fertility. After several health problems with menstruation, I have been in the process of considering on the connections between fertility and womanhood. Storm is an exploration of the imagined emotional whirlwind of pregnancy.
