A nomad by nature, Margarita Gokun never lives longer than two to four years in any one country. That creates havoc when she has to pack her canvases, but the inspiration of a new place almost always makes up for it. Margarita moved to Madrid, Spain last year and almost immediately became obsessed with all things Menina. Since starting to paint with her favorite medium—oil—four years ago, Margarita’s work has been exhibited at the Museum of Art of Ft. Lauderdale in Florida, published in an array of literary and art magazines, and won several contests. Her entire portfolio can be seen at StoriesAndColors.wordpress.com.

Inner Child (Oil on Canvas, 24” x 28”) This work is about recognizing and following the guiding light of our inner child—the light that reminds us to play, create, and live in the moment. A Star (Oil on Canvas, 16” x 40”) This work is dedicated to all the girls who are going for their dreams and reaching for their stars despite what their societies might be telling them. Child's Play (Oil on Canvas, 20"x16") This work was inspired by my daughter. In life play is necessary - only through play can we connect to our creativity and the universe. A Seeker (Mixed media (Oil, cement, gesso, resin on canvas, 18"x15") Sometimes it takes several lifetimes and several worlds to know what your journey is about.
